'5ive the Barber/Stylist,' has been one of the main leaders in innovating and creating unique hairstyles. With over 20 years experience he has successfully created a distinct and undisputed reputation for himself within the competitive world of hairdressing.

He is a freelance stylist who has the versatility to work with male/female, Afro and European hair. 5ive is also a technician/platform artist for various trade and product companies. His work consists of regular shows, not only up and down the country but also across Europe and the Far East. He has taken part in such shows as the annual 'Afro Hair & Beauty Show' and 'The L'Oreal Master class'.

5ive has acquired numerous awards such as Soft Sheens 'Battle Of The Barbers' 1992, 94, 96 as well as 'S-curl Champion' 1997, 'Wahl's Barber of the year' 1997 and more recently 'Southern Stylist of the Year' in 2011 at the Afro Awards.

His celebrity clientele list reads like an award ceremony, who when in town, have included Hollywood actors Chiwetel Ejiofor and Cuba Gooding Jnr and U.S. artists Sean' P-Diddy Combs, G-Unit, Teddy Riley, K-CI and Jojo, Usher, 112, Rass Kass, D12, Kelis, Nelly Futardo, Red Man, Chris Brown and Lionel Ritchie. UK clients have included radio presenter Richard Blackwood, singers Brian Harvey-E17, Craig David, Michelle Escoffrey and footballer Clinton Morrison.

CARL BLAKE

With an impressive 23 years experience in the hairdressing industry, Carl specialised in men`s hairdressing in 1990 when his technique and creative flair began to flourish in male grooming.

Opening his first men`s salon in East Sussex in 1998, Carl`s thirst for creativity lead him to London where he worked for two years before joining renowned grooming specialists Jack` of London.

Finding the creative outlet he was looking for, Carl quickly progressed and opened Jack`s of London in Kingston-upon-Thames and then Guildford.

Carl`s experience and industry knowledge allowed him to successfully run Heads Up salon based in Luton which has been established for over 35 years.

Carl has also been involved in conducting and directing many photoshoots which have resulted in editorial features and front covers in leading publications such as Hairdressers Journal and Creative HEAD. Carl`s creative work was also recognised at the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards when he finalised for Men`s Hairdresser of the year in 2007. No stranger to the limelight, Carl also presents his latest techniques and styles on stage at exhibitions such as Salon International and training seminars across the UK.

Showing no sign of slowing down, Carl is now co owner of a salon in East Sussex called PHD with exciting plans to open more over the next few years.

CARLY PATTERSON


Although Carly Patterson has only been hairdressing for around five years she can display an impressive CV. She worked at Robert Mitchell Hairdressing, she has an A1 Assessors qualification so she can assess for NVQs and now she has almost completed her Wella Master Colour Programme which will qualify her as a Wella colour expert.
Furthermore, Carly is part of the Sebastion Mob team, as well as of the Wahl artistic team. In this way, Carly can present her latest techniques and styles on stage at exhibitions such as Salon International and training seminars across the UK. After winning a competition ran in Creative Head in 2011 Carly will be doing a photo shot with the Sebastian Artistic Team, to be the front cover image for Creative Head in April 2012

Also, Carly won the Avante guard category of the local PH academy competition two years running.

In the salon, Carly is an all-rounder, she offers all services and even goes out to weddings. She specialises in hair up and loves taking part in photo shoots where she can express her enormous creativity.

MICHAEL DAMIANO

Michael started cutting hair at the age of 15, running a full column of clients by the age of 16 in the family business. By age 17 he had already won 2 trophies at Barnfield College Luton, competing against 40 other students. He went on to win “Barber of the year 2004” and “Barber of the year 2005”, being the first name to be engraved on the Bill Tildsley Cup. Overall “Hairdresser of the year 2004/05”, Michael was amongst those listed on the golden statue "Ligne F" 1954 sculpture de Guillaume, by the famous French hairdresser Guillaume Guglielmi, becoming the first male barber ever to win this award. In 2011 he went on to win Barber of the Year at the Afro Awards.

Based in Bedford, Michael is now running his own barbershop. Michael is also a barbering tutor at the college he gained his awards at! Teaching students his skills and talents in barbering, from pattern designing to funky cutting and ace of fading!

MARTIN FOX

Martin Fox began his hairdressing career in 1987 with an apprenticeship within Gary Thoms. Twenty years later Martin has worked with many of the leading names within the hairdressing industry both here in the UK and in Europe.

Martin has extensive experience in stage work, photoshoots, serminars, workshops and fashion shows. He has also won many competitions including Northeast Champion on two occasions.

As a result of his hair fashion work, Martin was invited to join the acclaimed Wahl UK Artistic Team. He is now a highly respected member of the team and travels throughout the UK presenting shows and seminars as well as teaching the Clipper Design course at The Wahl Academy in Kent.

Martin now co-owns Scarlet Moon in Middlesbrough, a funky forward thinking salon.
